Ventilation practices can improve a kitchen’s energy efficiency. Individual ventilation systems may vary, but there are three ways to best maximize ventilation efficiency. The first option is to choose the lowest effective setting for ventilation systems. Second, turn off exhaust hood fans when the appliances underneath them are not being used. Finally, make sure to properly position appliances underneath hoods, so that exhaust fans can remove waste heat, steam, and smoke most effectively.
Implementing the best ventilation practices reduces the amount of energy used in kitchens and the associated costs. In addition, more waste heat, steam, and smoke can be ventilated more effectively, improving the restaurant air quality and overall operation and reducing noise.
